Summary

She’s a romantic at heart, living in the most unromantic of worlds 。 。 。

Nicknamed Sweet Abelli for her docile nature, Elena smiles on cue and has a charming response for everything。 She’s the favored daughter, the perfect mafia principessa 。 。 。 or was。

Now, all she can see in the mirror’s reflection is blood staining her hands like crimson paint。

They say first impressions are everything 。 。 。

In the murky waters of New York’s underworld, Elena’s sister is arranged to marry Nicolas Russo。 A Made Man, a boss, a cheat—even measured against mafia standards。 His reputation stretches far and wide and is darker than his black suits and ties。 After his and Elena’s first encounter ends with an accidental glare on her part, she realizes he’s just as rude as he is handsome。

She doesn’t like the man or anything he stands for, though that doesn’t stop her heart from pattering like rain against glass when he’s near, nor the shiver that ghosts down her spine at the sound of his voice。

And he’s always near。 Telling her what to do。 Making her feel hotter than any future brother-in-law should。 Elena may be the Sweet Abelli on the outside, but she’s beginning to learn she has a taste for the darkness, for rough hands, cigarettes, and whiskey-colored eyes。 Having already escaped one scandal, however, she can hardly afford to be swept up in another。

Besides, even if he were hers, everyone knows you don’t fall in love with a Made Man 。 。 。 right?

This is a standalone forbidden romance。

This is an intense slow-burn mafia romance ever。 I love every but and every scene of it。 And especially how problems ultimately settle down。 If you are looking for mafia action book, this isn't it, because it is mafia romance more than it's action but ut is really worth the read! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Sloooowwwww burn。 It took until about 70% to get the smut I so badly needed from Ace and Elena。 Their sex scenes were HOT when they happened but holy good gravy it felt like it just drug on and on go get there。 This was my first mafia book and I have to say I love the possessiveness and controlling nature of the men。

Sweet Oblivion is a mafia romance。 where you get to see a different side of Don。 Who drawn in the temptation of a girl whole New york wants and they all are willing to do anything just to be beside her but Don try his hardest not be one of that man who falls head over heel just the mere site of her。 Now he can't resist her he wants her at any coast even if it means war but does she want him or not is still a question but don decided to do it as a challenge and make her fall in love with him。 The Sweet Oblivion is a mafia romance。 where you get to see a different side of Don。 Who drawn in the temptation of a girl whole New york wants and they all are willing to do anything just to be beside her but Don try his hardest not be one of that man who falls head over heel just the mere site of her。 Now he can't resist her he wants her at any coast even if it means war but does she want him or not is still a question but don decided to do it as a challenge and make her fall in love with him。 The only reason I give this book 3 stars instead of 5 stars was he already knows about her past but still gets jealous and insecure about her felling。 And no fighting for her。 One day he decided he wants her for himself and go get her from her daddy and her daddy was like " Congrachulation You Are Going To Get Married" like it was that simple。 。。。more

Ok, this was good。 I honestly haven't read a crap ton of mafia romances but this was a hell of a good start。 I really liked the two perspectives and found the book easy to get through。 Smut was pretty good but honestly not as intense as I thought it was going to be after the amount of tenson we had building up。 Still amazing and I am definitely going to read the next one。 Ok, this was good。 I honestly haven't read a crap ton of mafia romances but this was a hell of a good start。 I really liked the two perspectives and found the book easy to get through。 Smut was pretty good but honestly not as intense as I thought it was going to be after the amount of tenson we had building up。 Still amazing and I am definitely going to read the next one。 。。。more

Mafia is one of my catnip tropes- and while I LOVE it, I’ve read so much of it that it all starts to bleed together。 Similar characters, predictable plots, generic take on the trope- Oh yes, I EAT IT UP。 But, it means that it’s rare that a mafia story feels fresh to me- but this series is one that feels fresh, feels a decidedly original point of view, and I’m deliciously addicted to it。The architecture itself feels well trodden- alpha mafia leading man swimming in money, danger, and power, set Mafia is one of my catnip tropes- and while I LOVE it, I’ve read so much of it that it all starts to bleed together。 Similar characters, predictable plots, generic take on the trope- Oh yes, I EAT IT UP。 But, it means that it’s rare that a mafia story feels fresh to me- but this series is one that feels fresh, feels a decidedly original point of view, and I’m deliciously addicted to it。The architecture itself feels well trodden- alpha mafia leading man swimming in money, danger, and power, set up for an arranged marriage to broken peace with a different mafia family。 The marriage lacks appeal, though, not only because of its arranged nature, but because Nico finds himself drawn to Elean’s, his-would-be-bride’s sister。 The siren sister that so many have adored- and soon, she becomes his greatest temptation。 Cue ALL the sexual tension and longing。 This book is decidedly less dark than most mafia books I read, and a much slower burn, but I found myself appreciating this。 Usually mafia stories unfurl stories that weave mafia world building with a romantic storyline with equal measures, but here Danielle gives us just enough to satisfy but really keeps the focus on the evolving romance。 The result is an organically developed, beautifully created character connection。 It’s equally emotive and steamy- palpably dynamic, and unexpectedly dreamy。 The book is a bit long, and again, the burn is slow, but there are so many different notes (humor, heart, heat), and the forbidden aspect adds even more flavor。 The writing is really beautiful- lyrical in places, and the story is well constructed。 Danielle clearly is a thoughtful and intentional writer, and I’m excited for more of her work! 。。。more

I've come to the conclusion I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary romance, but I do like a story with alpha males。 This was a bit slow for me; however, it does give me a break from fantasy/sci-fi romance。 That will always be my number one though。 I can imagine though that if you like contemporary romance you'd enjoy this even more。 I've come to the conclusion I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary romance, but I do like a story with alpha males。 This was a bit slow for me; however, it does give me a break from fantasy/sci-fi romance。 That will always be my number one though。 I can imagine though that if you like contemporary romance you'd enjoy this even more。 。。。more

I LOVE this book but let me preface: I got KU earlier this year because reasons and was recommended it by the algorithm。 I am so happy it did。 I admit I was initially hesitant to read it based off the blurb (in all honestly I was not super amped about a relationship between someone and her future brother-in-law), but I am ultimately glad I read it。 The in-law status is from a planned marriage of convenience between Elena Abelli's sister and Nico Russo, of which there is zero connection or intere I LOVE this book but let me preface: I got KU earlier this year because reasons and was recommended it by the algorithm。 I am so happy it did。 I admit I was initially hesitant to read it based off the blurb (in all honestly I was not super amped about a relationship between someone and her future brother-in-law), but I am ultimately glad I read it。 The in-law status is from a planned marriage of convenience between Elena Abelli's sister and Nico Russo, of which there is zero connection or interest between the two parties。 However, as soon as Elena and Nico meet it is immediate clash and tension that is carried through the book very well by the author。 Every single scene between the two of them is *chef's kiss* as their heated interactions increase in intensity every time they meet and are played out in such a good manner。This book made me an immediate fan of Danielle Lori。 I liked this book so much that I ended up buying the e-book a month later and have re-read it about 2-3 times since my first read (and it is just as good every time)。 I really enjoyed the differing perspectives provided and the way that Danielle writes each scene。 Even side character interactions add to the story and world。 This was the first mafia romance book I recall ever reading and it made me realize, "Hm, I guess I like mafia romances now", haha。If you are new to mafia romances or are looking for another one to read I definitely recommend this one! 。。。more

3,4/3,5。 Good book。 Liked the smut。 Liked the slow burn。 I would’ve liked for there to be maybe 1/2 less scenes at the beginning of the slow burn cause it felt too long at one point, or for them to kiss or do something earlier。 I also really wanted her to get like kidnapped or hurt or some shit like that。 But still a good book。

This was my first mafia romance book and it was super fun! The sexual tension was crazy and the writing style flowed really well and was easy to read。 It sometimes got repetitive and a lot of the issues could have been solved by the characters just communicating like even a little bit, but it was sexy and offered a glimpse into a world I'd never really ventured into before。 I didn't hate the characters and they weren't too stupid to live, so that's a plus in my book。 Also, Nico was an alpha male This was my first mafia romance book and it was super fun! For the past few years I have basically read nothing but fantasy but I found this series and devoured it。 I loved pretty much everything about this book。 The drama, the violence, the spice…。the romance。 I mean, come on! If there is anything better than a good mafia romance I'm not sure what it is throw in an arranged marriage and I am a happy reader。 Elena and Nicolas are a match of fiery epic proportions。 Nico knows he has to get married and Elena knows she will have no option but to follow her families wishes。 I love when the guy in the story is an unapologetic alpha with no filter and boy does Nico fit that mold perfectly。 This is a slow burn with sexual tension present every time they are in a room I was wi If there is anything better than a good mafia romance I'm not sure what it is throw in an arranged marriage and I am a happy reader。 Elena and Nicolas are a match of fiery epic proportions。 Nico knows he has to get married and Elena knows she will have no option but to follow her families wishes。 I love when the guy in the story is an unapologetic alpha with no filter and boy does Nico fit that mold perfectly。 This is a slow burn with sexual tension present every time they are in a room I was willing them to just get it on。 They did frustrate me as they didn't talk to each other and Nico made stupid decisions because of this but without it the tension would have been less intense。 I loved the mix of angst and danger that only a mafia story can bring。 。。。more

I had read the third book in this story first and then immediately went to read this one。 I had heard about it, but for some reason had kept it in my TBR for a while。 I think someone had made references that made it seem as though the heroine in this one steals the hero from her sister。 This is not that at all。 Elena's sister is promised to Nico when they first meet, but it's not a love match and the sister has no interest in marrying Nico。 The chemistry between Nico and Elena is evident from th I had read the third book in this story first and then immediately went to read this one。 I had heard about it, but for some reason had kept it in my TBR for a while。 I think someone had made references that made it seem as though the heroine in this one steals the hero from her sister。 This is not that at all。 Elena's sister is promised to Nico when they first meet, but it's not a love match and the sister has no interest in marrying Nico。 The chemistry between Nico and Elena is evident from the very beginning and is intense and hot。 I absolutely LOVED this story and reading about them, and this book has made Danielle Lori an auto-buy for me! Best Read of 2021 I kept seeing this author all over TikTok and was kinda of iffy about giving it a try。 I’m so glad I did give it a try 。 This book became one of my favorite reads。 Nico and Elena meet when he set to marry her sister。 The engagement with the sister didn’t last long due to some issues。 Throughout the book there was so much chemistry and sexual tension between Nico and Elena 。 He was so possessive over her。 I loved their banter and the scene where he pushes her in the pool because Best Read of 2021 I kept seeing this author all over TikTok and was kinda of iffy about giving it a try。 I’m so glad I did give it a try 。 This book became one of my favorite reads。 Nico and Elena meet when he set to marry her sister。 The engagement with the sister didn’t last long due to some issues。 Throughout the book there was so much chemistry and sexual tension between Nico and Elena 。 He was so possessive over her。 I loved their banter and the scene where he pushes her in the pool because he was feeling jealous。 。。。more

i feel that the middle part of the book was quite boring。 It was of Nico doubting Elena’s feelings, and their problems could literally be solved with COMMUNICATION。 but it wasn’t that bad, i would not reread it and put myself in this pain bc this book literally put me in a book slump( but it wasn’t that long so its fine ig)。
